STEEL BRIDGE SONGFEST
In solidarity with displaced brothers and sisters of war-torn nations,
Steel Bridge Songfest will be going underground this year.
At precisely 3:33pm CDT on the 11th of June, 2022, the annual festival will shift to its new, year-round, 24/7 audio-only format* (see "Looking to the Future")
Broadcasting from a bunker under an undisclosed compound in the Steel Bridge Creative District of downtown Sturgeon Bay, the never-ending festival will continue as a platform for our body of work, past, present, and future ("music so fresh, it hasn't been written yet") with more bridging of people and genres, more tributes to the real bridge we helped to save.
Steel Bridge Radio 2.0(22) will add news, views, quips, and survival tips from the mouths of Steel Bridge artists, delivered discretely over the airwaves under the guise of creative shop talk and musical entertainment.
As times get tougher (as we know they will)
let us be your buffer. Your lasting ray of hope.
Your faint glimmer of light in the darkness.
Your subterranean bridge over troubled
water, etc.

*Looking to the Future
Some will undoubtedly see the above as a declaration that the festival will never return to its original form. Not true! We WILL bring back the live component - a motel full of love and adrenaline, song partners picked by magical spinning matchmaker genie-in-a-bottle, spontaneous jams around town, etc. - when the world and our infrastructure can sustain it.
Until then, we'll be working in smaller groups
behind the scenes, with Steel Bridge Radio as
our public peephole, our perpetiual festival,
our BRIDGE, our gallery, our focus,
our main FLAME in the mainframe...
You name it - that's what it'll be.
